VALUE AT THE CLICK OF A BUTTON
We believe that the UK’s existing tuners and piano technology students & trainees, wherever they train, should be able to be supported by a positive and proactive industry and ideally be apart of a trade association that is forward looking , inlcusive and works closely with qualified trainers for the betterment of the trade. Those of you who know us, understand how important we believe that to be and that we continue to strive to find opportunities for tuners to achieve that, here in the UK, particularly for the growing number of women tuners we have been delighted to welcome on our course.
For a few years now I had been in conversation with various council members of the Piano Technicans Guild. The great things about membership that we liked :
Membership is a flat fee for anyone in the Piano trade from anywhere in the World.
You do NOT have to take any tests or exams to be a member.
There are opportunities for development and should you want to take the test you can do so and become an RPT, Registered Piano Technican.
They are very supportive of the busIness side of being a tuner / technician
The question as I could see it, was; What value would UK technicians get from being a member of the PTG, given it is an American Guild, albeit with an International reputation. it all seemed very remote and far away.
Well, this year we were invited along to attend their annual convention. Before heading out, Steve decided to join the PTG and in doing so, we think we got our answer!!… Already suitably impressed with the administrative side and warm welcome he received online and on the phone, Steve suddenly had access to a wealth of useful resources via his own logIn and portal. So off we went to the USA and you can see for your self what we discovered by watching my little film here- PTG FROM A BRITS PERSPECTIVE Thanks for watching, I would love to know your thoughts1 Tabitha
