Steve Droy: Concert Piano Tuner
Steve Droy has been a professional concert piano tuner for over 30 years; having decided to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Originally based in North London Steve has built up eclectic mix of customers; from the young learner on the family upright, schools and choirs to professional musicians, West End shows & recording studios.
Having had a taste of teaching ten years ago, Steve and his family moved to Mumbai, India in 2012, to set up the Furtados Institute of Piano Technology.
On returning to the UK he founded The Piano Technology School in 2015, now based in Rugby, which is the leading UK training provider for anyone wanting to train to be a professional piano tuner/ technician. Steve added a teaching & training qualification to develop his own career progression.
Steve has trained with Steinway in Hamburg. He also worked freelance for Steinway in London. In 2023 he became an Registered Piano Technician of the Piano Technicians Guild, currently the only tuner in UK to become internationally qualified as an RPT. He is a member of IMIT and was until recently an supportive full member of the PTA for many years ( Piano ForteTuners Association)
